Etiyé Dimma Poulsen Ethiopian, b. 1968

Who creates whom? My creations inspire me as much as I inspire them, and through this dialogue, my sculptures reveal their humanity, vulnerability, and strength.

Etiyé Dimma Poulsen is a sculptor known for her powerful and emotive clay figures. Born in Ethiopia and later adopted by Danish parents, Etiyé's work transcends cultural boundaries. She crafts her sculptures by shaping metal wire and layering fine clay, which she then bakes, allowing the fire to crack and shape the figures, giving them their unique personality and vulnerability.
